CityLit Teens gets youth excited about reading and writing by presenting these skills as creative literary art. Conducted at libraries, on college campuses, and as part of after-school activities, the program explores various forms of writing (poetry and prose), makes reading recommendations, teaches participants how ideas become manuscripts and eventually books, and provides each young writer with a copy of their own book that they helped write, design, and publish (for free). Along the way, skill sets such as written expression, design, teambuilding, and public speaking. Past publications have included Poetry of Color (Poesia de Color) and Open Mic / Open Minds.
