Simpsons Writer, Thurber Prize Winner to Teach Humor Writing Workshop

02/21/2012

What’s funny to you? A pie in the face? A kick in the junk? Monkeys? Maybe, but if you have higher aspirations, then you know writing humor is hard work. Start a comic novel, create a colorful character, or include a funny episode in whatever you’re writing: fiction, essay, or screenplay. Larry Doyle spent four seasons as a writer for The Simpsons; his novel I Love You, Beth Cooper (for which he also wrote the screenplay) won the 2008 Thurber Prize.
