In 2014, CityLit Project will celebrate its first decade. And what a tremendous ten years it’s been—workshops, festivals, publications, and prizes! CityLit has excited kids about writing and published the work of young people. Our workshops have helped to improve the craft of hundreds of writers while preparing them for professional success. CityLit Press has published literature and regional-interest books with the same quality production, e-book editions, and distribution expected of much larger publishers. Plus, CityLit Press sponsors the annual Harriss Poetry Prize—a chapbook contest judged by acclaimed poets—that, with a bit more support behind a great vision, can be grown into one of the country’s most prestigious awards for newer poets.
And, as we are humbly reminded by Baltimore
magazine's pronouncement, CityLit Festival has become "a can't miss event on the city's cultural scene."
Stay tuned for news about CityLit's special 10th anniversary party in March, and of course the wildly popular CityLit Festival in April. Thanks Baltimore, lovers of literature across Maryland, and the literary arts community at large. Thank you amazing partners, dedicated board members, generous donors, and trusted funders of all sorts. It's been a great decade!
