This talk will explore former Maryland Poet Laureate GRACE CAVALIERI’s personal beliefs in writing as a life force, in the value of poetry, and energy as the conduit for creating. A very accessible exercise will be given to show that everyone can write their story. The hour-long workshop will include time to talk, create, and share a successful creative experience. Grace has written a book on creative writing and invented, among other methods, “The elevator poem” and the 10-word experiment. Each is time-honored and has ignited thousands of beginning writers. Senior writers looking for inspiration and fellowship are encouraged to attend. Grace Cavalieri is Maryland’s tenth Poet Laureate. She is the founder/producer of public radio’s “The Poet and The Poem,” celebrating 48 years on-air in 2025.
