Two days of writing, inspiration, and stillness for writers who identify as mothers.

SCRIBENTE MATERNUM was formed out of a desire to find balance between our children (young or grown) as writing inspiration and their perpetual presence as writing distraction. Our first retreat for writers who identify as mothers was held in the winter of 2021, at the height of a global pandemic. Since then, we have welcomed mothers from across the country to two in-person retreats: the first at The Clifton House in Baltimore and the second on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Washington State. This year, the Scribente Maternum retreat experience heads back to the city for an event in Minneapolis. We are also thrilled to go back to our roots and bring back the virtual retreat option, FREE for all writer-moms in Maryland, thanks to our partnership with CityLit and the National Endowment for the Arts.

This year’s facilitators include 신선영 SUN YUNG SHIN, DARA BEEVAS, KATE HOPPER, and RACHEL BERG SCHERER.
