Nikky Finney was to be our 2020 CityLit Festival keynote, and we were SO READY FOR HER! In light of COVID-19, we decided to feature this award-winning poet at a later time where we could embrace her fully. That time is to be determined. To keep her spirit with us, please take a moment to experience this National Book Award-winning poet on two occasions:
- NPR – All Things Considered: In celebration of National Poetry Month, April 2020
‘Just Sit Where You Are.’ Poet Nikky Finney Says Your Poem Is Right In Front Of You
- A reading by Nikky Finney and Alondra Uribe of Hotbed #224 from Nikky’s most recent work, which would’ve debuted at this year’s Festival, Love Child’s Hotbed of Occasional Poetry: Poems and Artifacts. Her first collection since winning the 2011 NBA award for Head Off & Split. This book of narrative “hotbeds”, family photos and treasured keepsakes collages a lyrical and intimate history of Finney’s life, her family and American culture.
